Pumpkin Carving
We had a pumpkin carving contest last night at school. It was an ooey gooey good time.

The weatherman was wrong.
The forecast for this weekend was rain, rain, and oh, more rain. They were DEAD WRONG. It turned out to be a beautiful weekend. Mike was in town. We went to the Farmer’s Market on Saturday, took some pics of the law school building for a project of mine, and went to see Harry Potter 6 at the cheap-o theater.

The oh-so-colorful tiles on a building downtown.

Mike and his pumpkin latte.

The tree-hugging starts early in Madison… ;)

Sentimentality.
My friend Rachel believes that “all the people who love fall are all the sentimental people, whether they know it or not”. I’d have to agree. There’s something about the end of the year, when the world appears to be on fire with color, that conjures up feelings of longing, nostalgia, sentimentality, and thinking about the past and what is gone. But it’s not a feeling of sadness. At the moment, I’m pretty darn happy with my life…much better than this time last year. I guess it’s a reminder that life keeps going in cycles – the bad and the good, everything takes it turn.

Wood Weekend ‘09
Last weekend marked the annual Koeppen family Wood Weekend. Mike’s grandma has a cabin up in northern Minnesota (Longville, to be exact) and each fall everyone gathers to hang out, drink, eat, and chop wood for the next season. The weather SUCKED this year – cold and rainy and cold. But we all had a good time nonetheless – Grandma K’s cooking is amazing & I had a lot of fun hanging out with Malayna (we played with Play Doh – flashback to my childhood!). Here are some pics from the weekend.

Three men and a little lady. :)

The guys had fun melting beer bottles in the fire..

Beauty time for Mike.
